  • the farm of the Mound is close to the village of Seuilly (F-37500) in full country of Rabelais, with a few kilometer of Devinière, native house of Rabelais. This one made its first studies in the Benedictines of Seuilly. It locates at it the combat of Jean brother of Entommeures against the troops of Picrochole.
  • At the 16th century, the smallholding of the Mound belongs to damoiselle Jehanne of the Servant boy who remains “at present in the noble house of Charged parish of the Clermault Rock” when it sells it in 1594. The act is signed with the castle of Charged, in the presence of Nicolas of the Bar and of his Guyonne wife of Fe, girl of Jehanne of the Servant boy.

At the 17th century, it is between the hands of the family the Heart, like other places of Seuilly: Bassaizière, the Key, Large the Court, the Town hall, Meslière, of which the members are advocats, advisers of the roy, prosecutors, in Saumur and Richelieu.

Then, La Motte passes until in 1751 to Chesnon, year when it is sold to damoiselle Marie Auvinet (related with the Chesnon family); she will remain in this family until the end of the 19th century The farm of the Mound was a smallholding concerned with the castle of Coudray-Montpensier. The oldest known mention goes back to 1508 and relates to a feudal seizure.

The principal home comprises two levels, with each one a big room; that of the ground floor has a chimney; on the floor the room is directly under the roof.

Two openings comprised stone mullions; the northern opening still has a door frame with mullions and shutters of the 16th century.

A curious loggia, single in Touraine, decorates the frontage and gives access on the floor; under the old mode, a staircase external with great degrees made it possible to reach it; it was removed on an unknown date, and was replaced by a staircase of miller out of wooden.

This building, out of hardcores of limestone and ground, preserved its character of origin, in spite of many repairs and resumptions of masonry. In 1751, it is known as “in very bad condition”; are this the consequences of the earthquake of Loudun? A consent of 1656 described: “a made up coullombier aveq six hundred holes basty has chau and has sand aveq a daum with the dessust… the provided gate of a large door (. ?) of wood of chesne nailed and ferée of beam”. This coulombier was on the left gate, which one sees the right pillar, with the site of the current stone heap covered with vegetation.
