Servius Sulpicius Galba was used as military Tribun in the 2nd legion in Macedonia, under Lucius Aemilius Paullus Macedonicus, with which it was personally hostile. In -167, after having conquered Macedonia and overcome Persée, Aemilius returned to Rome. Bent tried to prevent its triumph, but does not succeed, although its efforts to arrive there were considerable.
In spring -150, it took again the road of Lusitanie, and devastated the country. The Lusitanians sent an embassy to him, informant whom he had raped the treaty that they had concluded with Atilius.
It accepted the ambassadors with kindness, and deplored that the circumstances, particularly the poverty of their country, involved them with their revolt against the Romans. He promised three territories to them, whose grounds were fertile, so that they settle there with their wives and the children, provided that they remain the faithful allies of Rome. Once the Lusitanians installed, it then attacked one after the other the three territories, massacring the population without any pity. Very little could escape, but among the survivors Viriatus was, which taken shortly after the head of the revolt against Rome.
According to Suetone, Galba was also the most eloquent speaker of its time.
