Services for French Internet Exchange (SFINX)

The SFINX is a GIX (Total Internet eXchange), terminal point of traffic Internet between service providers Internet, or telecommunications operators who want to exchange traffic, without transit and passing by international infrastructures. GIP RENATER ensures the control of work of the SFINX since its creation in 1995, and this while being with the listening of the FAI (suppliers of access Internet) which are connected there. Thus the offers of connections on the SFINX evolved/moved according to the needs expressed by the FAI and of the constraints for the economic model of the SFINX.

Today, we note that the FAI turn to more than 90% to the DIRECT offer SFINX which allows a direct connection to the switch SFINX, thus forsaking the offer HEBERGEE which seems more not to correspond to the market need. In addition, the architecture of the SFINX is now reduced to two points of presence (POP) on the Parisian place, instead of three, which has as a consequence the reduction in the associated costs to the interconnection of the nodes.
