Serranus

The serrans ( Serranus ) form one of small Poisson S osseous predatory macrophages of the rock funds and the Mediterranean herbaria . Present on the littorals, one however finds them until a hundred meters of depth.

They are close to the Mérou S by their morphology, in particular that of their mouth. They are however much smaller (10 with 30  cm, according to the species), and carry variegated, their dress going from the brown-red to the yellow and sometimes presenting spots violets, green or blue colors, according to the species. Their back is striped vertical and, for some, horizontal dark bands.

The serrans are Hermaphrodite S.

Fond of delicacies of Shrimp S, small fish and cephalopods, they constitute easy preys and current for the fishing with the Palangrotte. They are mets of choice for the Soupe S, the Bouillabaisse or in simple crackling.
