Festivals, fairs

The Holy Week occupies a particular place in the festivals of Nisseno. This important religious tradition begins holy Wednesday with Real Maestranza. The Maundy Thursday takes place the procession of the Vare , 16 coffins on which are posed groups of large statues out of wooden, papier-m4ach3e and plaster, representing the passion of Christ.

Holy saturdays, all the inhabitants of the village and the close villages meet in front of the church of San Giuseppe and start a procession while passing by all the churches of the village. It is completed on a hillock to represent the passion of Christ. This festival is locally called the scinenza .
