Sermon on the Mountain
The Sermon on the mountain was, according to the Gospel according to Matthieu, a Sermon delivered by Jesus de Nazareth about the year 30 to its disciples as well as a broad crowd. Certain Christians comtemporains believe that it took place on a mountain in the north of the Sea of Galilee, close to Capharnaüm. The sermon is reported in the Gospel according to Matthieu
This sermon is compared with similar but briefer the Sermon in the plain, told by the Gospel according to Luc. Certain commentators believe that it can be a question of the same sermon, others believe that Jesus preached remarks similar to several places and others still claim that none of both took place truly and that they are in fact of the combinations of the basic lesson of Jesus as gathered by Matthieu and Luc.
The portion the best known one is probably that of the Béatitudes, which are found at the beginning of the section. It contains also the prayer of the Our Father and the injunctions " Do not resist that which wants you mal" and " if somebody slaps you on the right cheek, tighten to him also the autre" , as well as the version of Jesus of the Rule of gold. Often, one also quotes the references to the " Salt of the earth " , with " the light of the monde" and " Do not condemn the others, not to be yourselves condamnés". believe that the sermon on the mountain is a kind of comment about the Ten Commands. For various religious and moral thinkers such as Leon Tolstoï and the Mahatma Gandhi, the Sermon on the mountain contains the central principles of the Christian observance.
