Series V of the Departmental records

The series V is one of the modern series Departmental records; it is devoted to the pertaining to worship Archives posterior with 1790, more precisely of the certificated period (1801 - 1905), that is to say to the coming into effect of the law of separation of the Churches and the State of December 9th, 1905 which put an end to this mode. This series has been closed thus for this period, except in the departments of the east of France always under certificated mode.

The prefecture exerting during this time the supervision of the State on the Worship S, the essence of these Archives come from the prefectoral administration.

The funds corresponding to the Public records is the series F19 - Ministry for the worships.

The Cadre of classification gives the following subdivisions:

* 1 V : clergé catholic séculier:
Évêques, canons, cleaned and serving (nominations, certificates of residence, announcement of death, etc).
Dépenses of the clergy, etc.
Lists of thirty more imposed of each common about 1855, for an extraordinary imposition intended for the culte.
Appointements of the vicars on the communal budget.

* 2 V : organization and police force of the worship catholique, in particular:
Correspondance, for example between the bishop and the prefect;
Application of the legal settlements;
Fêtes religious and legal; processions; missions; searches; ringing of the bells, benches of honor reserved for the municipal authorities, etc;
Activity implying the clergy or the exercise of the catholic worship in the communes;

* 3 V : immeubles and buildings diocésains: cathedrals, seminars, etc, (maintenance Constructions and work).

* 4 V : immeubles and buildings paroissiaux: churches and vaults, presbyteries, oratories and martyrdoms (maintenance Constructions and work).

* 5 V : fabriques:
Membres of the fabric committees; various
Biens, revenues, incomes;
Comptability (budgets, properties, revenues and credits).

* 6 V : clergé catholic régulier;

* 7 V : cultes not catholiques;

* 8 V : separation of the Churches and État (or relationships to pertaining to worship associations created pursuant to the law of December 9th, 1905 ), of which
Inventaires of the goods of the ecclesiastical establishments in 1906;
Dévolution of ecclesiastical goods and creation of welfare offices, 1910 - 1915, etc

This series comprising a multitude of files relating to the communes of each department, is an important resource for the local Histoire.
