Sergueï Mikhailovitch Mironov [[Cyrillic] СергейМихайловичМиронов] (February 14th 1953, Pouchkine) is a Russian politician , president of the Conseil of the Federation, the Upper House of the Russian Parliament, since December 2001.

Mironov was born with Pouchkine, a town of the suburbs of Leningrad. Its family works for the army. Between 1971 and 1973, it serves in the airborne troops of the Red Army stationed in the Soviet socialist Republics with Lithuania and Azerbaïdjan.

Mironov undertakes studies of Géophysique and leaves graduate the mining Institute Plekhanov of Leningrad in 1980. Starting from 1979, it works as an engineer in geophysics at the institute Rudgeofizika . It expatriate to work in a company of aviation in Mongolia between 1986 and 1991 as a geophysicist.

Mironov launches out in the policy in 1994 and is elected appointed with the Douma of Saint-Pétersbourg. Mironov belongs to the young close relations of the former reforming mayor of Pétersbourg Anatoli Sobtchak.
