Sergio Ortega , born the February 2nd 1938 with Antofagasta and deceased the September 15th 2003 with Paris, is a type-setter Chile in.
Representative of a movement of musical expression known under the name of " Nueva cancion chilena". Its characteristics are elements of the folklore and an engagement for social justice. Sergio Ortega composed of many operas, cantatas and film musics of which most known are the songs " El pueblo unido" and " Venceremos" , of the songs made up for the Popular front of Chile (alliance enters the Socialist party and the Communist party). It was friendly of the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, Nobel Prize of literature. After the coup d'etat and the inversion of the government Allende in 1973, it left Chile and was established in France. Until its death on September 15th, 2003 in Paris, he was director of the National school of Music to Pantin where he gave many courses of composition to the young people pantinois.
