Sergei Mikhailovich Grinkov (February 4th 1967, Moscow, Russia - November 20th 1995, Lake Placid, New York, the United States) was a Russian artistic skater, Olympic champion and world of Figure skating. It would contribute in couple with Ekaterina Gordeeva.
With the autumn 1990, they decide to pass professional. They gained the championship of the world professional three times into 1991,1992 and 1994.
During the year 1989, their partnership is transformed into lovesong. Sergei and Ekaternina marry in April 1990. During the autumn 1991 and the winter 1992, they took part in the Stars round One Ice with the the United States and the Canada. The September 11th 1992, Ekaterina gives birth to a little girl, Daria Sergeievna Grinkova. Little time after the birth of Daria, the couple turns over to the drive for the springtide of Stars One Ice.
At that time, a payment of the RESULTING makes it possible to the professionals to reinstate the rows amateurs. Sergei and Ekaterina decide to return to their statute of amateurs to be able to take part in the Olympic Games of Lillehammer in 1994. They gain a second Olympic gold medal. Little time after the Plays, they turns over in the professional rows and again takes part in the Stars round One Ice.
The November 20th 1995, the tragedy strikes the Gordeeva/Grinkov couple. The couple involves for the Stars round One Ice which must begin with Lake Placid, New York. Sergei effrondre on the ice and dies of an heart attack. Sergei is buried in a cemetery with Moscow.
In February 1996, Ekaterina and several other skaters organize a spectacle " Celebration off has Life" where they pay homage to Sergei. This spectacle is televised later a few weeks. Ekaterina also wrote a book, My Sergei: Love Story has, reporting its history with Sergei. A telefilm based on this book was turned.
