Sergei Belov

Sergeï Aleksandrovitch Belov (in Russian СергейАлександровичБелов), born on January 23rd, 1944 with Nachevoko, is a player of Basket-ball of the USSR.

Player considered as one of best Europeans of all times, he was the first international player with being elected with the “Hall off Famed” of the basketball. He is also member of FIBA Hall off Famed.

Participant in four Olympic Games, it is famous final of 1972 when the USSR gains the title over the United States after the last most discussed seconds basketball with the Plays. The Americans carry out of 1 point to 3 seconds of the end. An intervention of the general secretary of the FIBA offers an idle period whereas two of the last seconds already ran out. When the play begins again, these two seconds are not deducted and the final whistle arrives without Russian basket. After a new intervention of the general secretary, three the second initial ones are given concerned. A long master key crosses the ground and an easy basket is marked under the eyes jellyfishes of the Americans. Those lost and in spite of long discussions, this result will be validated.

It also gains three bronze medals with the sets of 1968,1972 and 1980, Olympic Games being held with Moscow and of which it was thus chosen to light the Olympic flame.

He will also twice be crowned world champion in 1967 and 1974 and four times champion of Europe.

With its club of the CSKA, club of the Soviet Army, it gains two Coupe of the clubs champions in 1969 and 1971 and takes part in two other finales in 1970 and 1973. On these four finales, it will finish three times MVP.
