Serge Vaudenay , born the April 5th 1968 in Saint-Maur of the Ditches, cryptologist French.

S. Vaudenay is a former student of the National university of the street of Ulm (promotion 1989) and aggregate of Mathematics. It has begins its thesis in 1991, under the direction of Jacques Stern, and on the topic of the safety of the cryptographic primitives (in a symmetrical context ). It obtains its Doctorat in Informatique with the Université of Paris 7 in 1995. Researcher with CNRS until 1999, year when it obtains its enabling to direct research, he becomes the director of the Laboratory of Safety and Cryptographic (LASEC) with the federal Polytechnic school of Lausanne.

Author of many articles of cryptanalyse and originator of algorithms of Coding whose FOX, it is more known for its attack on the standard TLS/SSL which obliged the originators of the standard TLS to carry out a critical update. He also discovered weaknesses in several algorithms like Blowfish and E0, the coding used by the protocol Bluetooth.
