Serge Poliakoff
Serge Poliakoff (born with Moscow on January 8th, 1900 - died in 1969) is a French painter of Russian origin belonging to the news École of Paris.
Biography
Serge Poliakoff is the thirteenth child of a phratry of fourteen. His/her father, Kyrgyz, which had had breedings of horses, provides the army and has a racing stable. His/her mother involves it the every day with the church where the icons fascinate it. It is registered at the art school of Moscow. Leaving Russia in 1918 it arrives in 1920 at Constantinople, remaining thanks to its talent of guitarist.Passing by Sofia, Belgrade, Vienna and Berlin Poliakoff in 1923 in Paris is established where it will not cease playing in the Russian cabarets. In 1929, it is registered with the Académie of the Large Thatched cottage. Its paintings remain academic until the discovery which it makes with London - where it remains of 1935 with 1937 - Abstract art and luminosity of the colors of the Egyptian sarcophagi. It binds shortly after with Kandinsky, Sonia and Robert Delaunay, Otto Freundlich.
Its painting emerging from any Poliakoff representation is quickly regarded as one of the most powerful painters of its generation. In 1947, it is pulled by Jean Deyrolle with Gordes (Vaucluse) with in particular Schneider, Gilioli, Victor Vasarely, Dewasne. At the beginning of the Années 1950 it places in the hotel of the Old man-Dovecote, near Saint-Germain-of-Meadows, which hold Louis Nallard and Maria Manton, continuing to ensure its subsistence while playing of the balalaïka. A contract allows him a better material stability quickly.
In 1962, a room is reserved for its paintings with the Biennale de Venise and Poliakoff is naturalized French the same year. Its works appear in the majority of the European and New Yorkean museums. Poliakoff also worked ceramics with the national Manufacture of Sevres. It encouraged Arman to make painting.
In 2006, Poliakof belongs to the painters gathered with the Museum of Luxembourg (Sénat) for the exposure “ the Lyrical flight, Paris 1945-1956 ” ( Composition brown , 1947, Ny Carlsberg Glypothek, Copenhagen; red Composition with feature , 1952, Museum of Cologne; Composition IV , 1954): {{ISBN|8876246797}}.
Its dimension
A “ Composition abstracted with dominant red ”, painted in 1953 and coming from the collection of his/her friend the Russian prince Igor Troubetzkoy was allocated to the biddings in Paris for 603.200 euros in June 2007.
