Serge Lebovici

Serge Lebovici (1915 - 2000) is a Psychiatre and Psychanalyste. He directed the international psychoanalytical Association.

Biography

Lebovici was born in 1915 in an Jewish family immigrant from Romania. After the First World War, it undertakes a psychoanalytical Cure with Sacha Nacht and adheres to PCF (French Communist party). It enters with the SPP (Psychoanalytical Société of Paris), which had been prohibited under the occupation. He becomes the director in 1962 about it. He chairs the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA) of 1973 to 1977.

Lebovici is interested in the Psychanalyse of the children; it is solved not to slice in the theoretical controversy which opposes Anna Freud to Melanie Klein. He worked with the Hôpital of the ill children.

In 1949, PCF requiring of its members psychiatrists to condemn the psychoanalysis, Serge Lebovici leaves the party. He was not criticized less by it within the SPP, in which he had also to fight Jacques Lacan and Francoise Dolto.

He is one of the founders, in France, of the individual analytical Psychodrame.

In the years 1980, it founds a service of psychopathology of the child and the teenager to the Hôpital Avicenne with Bobigny. Its last work leads it particularly to develop the psychopathology of the Bébé, and the question of the early interactions between the baby and his partners, and that of the psychic transmission between the generations.
