Septeuil

Septeuil is a common French, located in the department of the Yvelines and the area Île-de-France.

Its inhabitants is called Septeuillais.

Geography

The commune of Septeuil is with approximately 14 kilometers in the south of Mantes-the-Pretty and approximately 16 kilometers in the north of Houdan in the valley of the Ru of Flexanville at the point of junction with the Vaucouleurs. The borough is built with the hollow of the valley, between 60 and 70 meters of altitude, the communal territory overflowing in south-east and south-west on the agricultural plate of the Mantois 120-140 meters from altitude.

The territory is very mainly (84%) rural and wooded to approximately 25%, primarily in bottom of valley. The habitat, concentrated in the borough is mainly made up of individual dwellings.

The communes bordering are in the North-East Arnouville-lès-Mantes, in the east Saint-Martin-of-Fields, the south Prunay-the-Temple, south-west Mulcent, the west Courgent, the North-West Boinvilliers and north Rosay.

Septeuil is with the crossroads of the secondary roads D 11 and D 983. The East-West directed first connects it to Thoiry in the east and Bréval in the west, while the second, directed North-South and main axis of circulation connects it to Mantes in north and Houdan in the south. The RD 983 was deviated a few years ago to avoid the encumbered center town of Septeuil.

The Sentier of great excursion GR. 11 (turn of the Ile-de-France) crosses the commune in its western part.

  • Saint Nicolas's Day Church: old vault of XIIIe century transformed with XIXe.
  • Old bridge on Flexanville borrowed formerly by a Roman way from the south of the village.
  • Gallo-Roman Nymphée: archeological site located at the confluence of Flexanville and Vaucouleurs, excavated in the years 1980.
  • Old abbey of Saint-Corentin destroyed penadnt the Revolution.
