  • 1894 ( Football ): First day of the first championship of the English Southern League . This championship is created in reaction to that of the Football League which includes/understands only clubs of North and center of the country. The South is indeed much more preserving on the question of professionalism. Also, contrary to its northerner counterpart, the championship of the Southern League , in the beginning, is exclusively reserved for the clubs amateurs. Last nine formations dispute Division 1; seven others form division 2.

  • 1974 ( automobile Sport ): Emerson Fittipaldi becomes world champion pilots of Formule 1 by gaining the Grand Prix of Canada.
  • 1987 ( Cycling on track ): Jeannie Longo, triple world champion of Cycling, improves its own world records of the hour by traversing 44,933 km.
  • 1988 ( Athletics ): The Canadian runner Ben Johnson is disqualified at the time of the finale of the 100 meters of the Jeux of Seoul; its title of Olympic champion and his world records are withdrawn to him. One found stanozolol at the time of sound control anti-doping.
