Sepmaine (the Week)

the Week or Creation of the World is an encyclopedic poem of the Gascon poet Of Bartas, published for the first time in 1578.

the edition publée by Jacques Chouet with Geneva in 1581 is presented like 15th. One finds there annotations of Simon Goulart. In 1589 this comment receives enrichments.
In 1585 in fact the comments of Pantaléon Thévenin accompany the text.

the Week falls under the tradition hexamérale.

As of 1579, the catholic Edouard of Monin translates into Latin the Week under the title Beresithias, sive mundi creatio , Paris, Avoiding Jean and Hilaire the Goat, 1579.
