Sensor (teledetection)
A sensor , in the field of the space Teledetection , is an instrument which collects radiative energy coming from the scene concerned and delivers an electrical signal corresponding and measurable. The equivalents in English are: sensor , and transducer .
By assimilation and although it does not deliver an electrical signal, one regards the photographic Chambre as a Capteur. The term “sensor” is sometimes used wrongly to indicate the Détecteur.
Different the types of Sensor S used in the field of the space Teledetection, are the following:
-
active sensor : Sensor with which is built-in or associated a transmitter which irradiates the scene in the spectral band of the receiver. The Radar and the Lidar (with retrodiffusion) are examples of active sensors. The equivalent in English is: activates sensor .
-
sensor of luminescence : active Sensor in which the reception takes place in a spectral band distinct from that of the emission. The equivalent in English is: luminescence sensor .
-
attitude sensor : apparatus which measures Angle S or angular velocities of displacement between the axes of a Space engine and axes reference. According to the nature of the measured sizes, one distinguishes in particular: gyroscopic sensors, optical sensors such as the sensors of horizon, solar collectors, stellar sensors. One also finds “attitude sensor”, which is not recommended. The equivalent in English is: attitude sensor .
-
push-broom sensor : Sensor whose detector is consisted many aligned detecting cells which receive simultaneously radiative energy coming from the scene. Sweeping according to an orthogonal direction with the alignment of the detecting cells can be carried out by the displacement of the vector or, for example, in the case of a geostationary platform of observation, be provided by a sequencer incorporated in the sensor. The equivalent in English is: push broom sensor .
-
passive sensor : Sensor which receives a energy emitted without itself irradiating the scene. A camera without flash is a passive sensor. The equivalent in English is: passivates sensor .
-
solar collector : device which receives the solar radiation and transforms energy of it into electricity. The equivalent in English is: solar collector .
