Sensitogramme

A sensitogramme is a piece of surface significant which comprises virgin, gray or coloured zones intended to be read, after treatment, using a densitometer.

The result of these readings is used to supervise the quality of the baths of treatment and the good performance of the machines. When these measurements deviate too much from the tolerances, the test is " except normes" ; it is imperative to correct the problem before launching any production.

For example, after development of a sensitogramme C-41, one notes an insufficient contrast and a lack of general density; these defects are highlighted by the measurement of the beaches HD, LD and D-max of the test. One will suspectera a problem of revealing: insufficiency of agitation (problem of bullage to nitrogen, circulating pump), a lack of maintenance of the bath or a breakdown of heating.

The sensitogramme is used as reference, it is thus carried out under very strict conditions by the manufacturer of the emulsion (film or paper). One must thus preserve it at the freezer until his use in order to preserve the latent image which it comprises.
