Senlisse

Senlisse is a common French, located in the department of the Yvelines and the area Île-de-France.

The inhabitants are Senlissois.

Geography

The common one belongs to the Regional natural park of the High-Valley of Chevreuse.

The communes bordering on Senlisse are Dampierre-in-Yvelines in north, Choisel in the west, Cernay-the-City in the south, Auffargis in the west on approximately 500 Mr. and the Essarts-the-King in the North-West.

History

Would the name of Senlisse come from the Latin Scindeliciae (broken Cords?) , name which appears in 862 at the time of the gift of the field to the abbey of Saint-Denis by Charles II the Bald person.
End 16th beginning 18th, it is made state of a stronghold and a lord of the Court-Senlisse, depend on the châtellenie of Beaurain.
The field is then acquired by Claude of Lorraine, duke of Chevreuse during the reign of Louis XIII and becomes, in 1739, property of Charles Louis d' Albert, Duc of Luynes.
In 1842, the duke of Luynes Honore Théodoric d' Albert equips the commune of a town hall and a school (two buildings coupled) followed by a canteen.

Inheritance

the church dates from the 13th century and a Vierge with the child flowering ash the tympanum of the porch of entry.
the castle of the Court-Senlisse, classified historic building, date of the 17th century. It is private property today.
the laundrette, on the Ru of Be worth-of-Cernay, completion date of the 19th century. It was restored in 1986 but today, alas, it is more or less with the abandonment and is used to store material of communal roadway system (cans, barriers, chairs).
