Sena Jurinac

Sena Jurinac , of its true name Srebrenka Jurinac, (born the October 24th 1921 in Travnik in Bosnia, of mother Viennese and father doctor in the Croatian army ) is an Austrian singer (Soprano and mezzo-soprano).

After its formation, started in September 1939, with Zagreb (Croatia), it began in May 1942 with the National theater from Zagreb in the role of Mimi of Bohemian the of Puccini. It was engaged by Karl Böhm with the Opéra of State of Vienna , from which it remained member until 1982.

Jurinac was known for its interpretations of the disguised roles of Cherubino of the Marriages of Figaro and d' Octavian of the Chevalier to the pink. It was for example the case at the time of the opening of again the Festspielhaus of Salzburg, directed by Karajan and filmed in 1960. She interpreted other great roles like that of Marina in Boris Godunov , the Tosca , Mrs Butterfly , Jenůfa in Jenůfa of Janáček, Elisabetta in Don Carlos and Desdemone in Otello . It interpreted a series of duets with the tenor Peter Anders such as for example the duet of love in Otello of Verdi. As it resided near Augsburg, it also often sang with the Theater of Augsburg.
