The Semnoz (known as also massive of Semnoz) is a mountain of average 16 kilometers altitude (1699 meters) long in the north of the Massif of the Wallows, of which it forms part, between Annecy and Allèves (cluse of Banges) in a north-eastern/south-western direction. It is located in Haute-Savoie.

Top of Crêt de Châtillon where there is a table of orientation, one has a panoramic sight on the various solid masses in the neighborhoods: Mont Blanc, Massive of the Jewel cases, lake Léman, etc Paradoxically, one sees very little the Lac of Annecy.
A road goes up almost until in top allowing the people not being able to make long walks admire a splendid landscape.
Tourism
Green lung of the agglomeration of Annecy, Semnoz malicieusement is also malicieusement called “the mountain in Annéciens”. The solid mass is very protected and it is impossible there to build there. For the agglomeration of Annecy where the grounds are rare and thus very expensive, it is a chance to keep an green area of this quality and which plunges directly to the downtown area. Except for its top, in mountain pasture, Semnoz is entirely wooded.
One can make there:
- Of multiple walks to foot, in VTT or with horse at the beginning of Annecy, the top of the Visitation (but also of Sévrier, Saint-Jorioz and the Vault-Saint-Maurice);
- Of the climbing with easy ways (Rock of the Nozzles and Large Jeanne);
- Of the bicycle: the rise of Semnoz can be done either starting from Annecy, or on the basis of Sévrier, via the collar of Leschaux. The rise is not easy, but arrived at the top one is rewarded by a splendid panorama with 360°. The summer, a bus of the city assembles the vetetists and the hikers for long a redescente.
- the park with the hinds of the Large Jeanne;
- theventilated one of Puisots and theventilated one of Quintal on its western side.
- the alpine botanical garden of the House of Semnoz.
Station
Semnoz is also a vast stage of family snow, attended by tens of thousands of people - it was estimated to fifteen thousand people Sunday. One finds there:- Alpine skiing (18 tracks, 12 ski lifts)

Management of Semnoz
The solid mass of Semnoz is managed by Intercommunity association for the protection and the installation of Semnoz, also called Sipas in collaboration with the ONF (National office of the forests) and the SAE (Alternative solutions Environment).

the mountain pastures : The top and the zones reserved for the ski station become mountain pastures during the summer, with a small production of volume, butter and chevrotin.
- the forest : Except for top, Semnoz is completely timbered and the forests are exploited.
- the ski station : New a Télésiège in Combe of Villard (very snow-covered sector) is in project to replace old a Téléski.
Events

Occasionally at the top, of the evenings of astronomical observation is proposed with the general public at the time of exceptional astronomical events.
- Each year, since 2005, is organized Climbed the cyclist of Semnoz (142 participants in September 2007).
