Its name is derived from Semervilla , that is to say the field of Sig-mar (Germanic name of man). With the Middle Ages, the parish belongs to the diocese of Chartres; the church is conceded in XIIe century in Saint-Lomer of Blois by the Yves bishop of Chartres.
