In Occident, seinen is almost exclusively used to indicate a type of Manga.

One still speaks about seinen manga for the mangas intended for an adult male public, in general targeted on the 18-30 years, but sometimes intended for riper readers. The subjects are generally more serious there or violent one, energy of experimental with the pornographic one. The graphic style in is affected, with a thorough use of the screen, more worked features, a research more pushed in the page layout. Finally the characters are described like more complex, not also idealistic (and idealized) that characters of Shōnen . The female equivalent of the seinen is the Redisu .
