Seinei

The emperor Seinei (清寧天皇, Seinei Tennō ), of his personal name Shiraka No Ōkimi , was the twenty-second emperor Japan, according to the traditional order of succession. One locates his reign at the end of the 5th century, although one does not know the dates with certainty of them. The tradition however allots to him dates of life of 444 with 484 and locates its reign starting from 480.

According to the Kojiki and the Nihonshoki , it is one of wire of the emperor Yūryaku and owes its name of Shiraka (“grey hair”) with the fact that it had the grey hair as of the birth. With died of his/her father, Seinei gains the fight for the throne against his/her brother prince Hoshikawa. Not having children, it adopts like heirs two grandsons to the emperor Richū, princes Woke and Oke, who will become respectively the emperors Kenzō and Ninken. He dies in 484 and Iitoyo Ao No Kōjo occupies the post of regent during one year, before Kenzō does not go up on the throne in its turn.

The tomb of Seinei is in the Province of Kawachi.
