Seibu dome

The Dome Seibu (西武ドーム, Seibu Dōmu) or Goodwill Dome (グッドウィルドーム, Guddowiru Dōmu) since January 1st 2007 is a stage of Baseball located at Tokorozawa in the Préfecture of Saitama to the Japan. It is the stage of Seibu Lions since the season 1979.

The roof of the stage covers the whole of the ground and the platforms, but there are no walls in top of the platforms to allow a natural ventilation of the ground. The blows of circuit can thus leave the stage, which is impossible in other covered stages. Only the other example of stage of baseball covered with openings is the Safeco Field of Seattle to the the United States.

History

The construction of the stage is completed for the opening of the season 1979 of the Championnat of Japan of baseball after the removal of the team of the Lions of Fukuoka towards Tokorozawa. The Seibu Lions Stadium (西武ライオンズ球場, Seibu Raionzu Kyūjō) is then equipped with a roof after two phases of work: the first phase takes place after the season 1997 and the second after the season 1998. At the beginning of the season 1998, the stage is famous Seibu Dome while at the same time the roof is not finished yet.

March 1st 2005, the stage is famous Invoice Seibu Dome after the purchase of the rights of name of the stage for two seasons by the telephone company Invoice Inc. . January 1st 2007, the group Goodwill sign a contract of name of the stage for five years. Official name is always the Dôme Seibu , but the media use only the sponsored name of Goodwill Dome .
