In Nominates Satanis/Magna Veritas (INS/MV) is a Roleplay. In Nominates Satanis, the players incarnate a group of demons, each one with the orders of a Prince-demon. In Magna Veritas, they incarnate a group of angels, each one with the orders of a Archange. In both cases, they are incarnated in human body nowadays, and must pay attention not to be pointed out by the human ones. Environment is generally with the second degree.

Play in itself

INS/MV knew four editions; the last left in June 2003. The fourth edition is appeared as a sleeve out of illustrated red paperboard containing three books; one contains the rules, the two others are dedicated to the Background and the Scénario S for the Angels and to the Demons. This play suggested by Hook (even if the original idea does not come from him but from an old group of friends) and Mathias Twardowski is published by Siroz, a mark of Asmodée. It is the French roleplay most popular in France. He saw a named American adaptation In Nominates. This adaptation underwent many modifications compared to the original, and some Rôliste S see it like an edulcorated version.

After 17 years of existence (an exceptional age for a roleplay of French creation), Asmodée announces the stop of the publications of INS/MV. The history is completed in November 2006 by the supplement One closes! , which closes the many intrigues still outstanding.

It should be noted that a posthumous supplement but nevertheless official, INS/MV Aperitif , provides a version altered and reduced of the rules of the fourth edition for fast parts.

Angels and demons

By defect, the character-players play each one an angel or a demon. Those are incarnated in human body nowadays. The angels incarnate in the agreeing body of a human , and the demons in the body of human which has just died. The only thing which, outside, differentiates them from human normal is their various capacities. They also often have one or more limitations or blames, which are physical or psychic demonstrations of their supernatural nature. For example, a demon could thus have a Queue which pushes between the Fesse S, while an angel could see prohibited any contact with a person of the opposite sex.

Each angel is with the service of a Archange, among a score different. In the same way, each demon is with the service of a Prince-demon, among about thirty different. Each superior grants his servants of the specific capacities, and a certain kind gives him. For example, Laurent, Archangel of the Sword, often give to the angels with his service of the capacities of combat and command. Its angels will often have an appearance Paramilitaire and will tend to vote on the right. On the contrary, Novalis, Archangel of the Flowers, grant to its angels capacities making it possible to calm the human ones. These angels will be often equipped in hippies and will proclaim ideas such as the Paix, the Amour, and the legalization of the Cannabis. The same differences exist among the demons. In the first edition, there was only one " vraie" religion, defended by the forces of the Good: Catholicism. Then Moslem archangels and prince-demons appeared. It happens that the Moslem archangels do not get along perfectly with their Christian counterparts…

However each angel or demon is single and nothing obliges it to stick completely to its superior.

Each angel or demon has supernatural capacities such as " jets of flammes" or " télépathie". These capacities are nevertheless to use with parsimony, first of all because one must spend of the points of being able , and also because the human ones never owe suspecter the presence on Earth of supernatural beings.

The supplements Berserker and Mindstorm for the first edition, then the Small apocalypses for the fourth, propose to play of the members of the third forces rather than angels or demons. The third force is made up réincarnés pagan heroes, human equipped with the capacities psioniques ones, human practitioner sorcery, angels or demons renegade, and various magic creatures, in short all the supernatural beings which belong neither to the forces of the Good nor to that of the Evil.

Universe

All started at the origin of times. Then there was nothing. Then an idea took form in the middle of this nothing: God. After having spent a few millenia to be amazed its own existence, it decided to create the universe. Of an idea, it created the planets, the stars, and all that today still fills up the intersidereal vacuum.

Beyond the universe which we know, the universe is composed of various steps. Try to imagine a building with an infinite number of stages moving. Here roughly it what the universe resembles. In the universe of INS, these stages are called steps. All in top of the building, it there with the divine walk on which the Paradise rests. All in bottom is the Hell. At the ground floor, there is the Purgatory, at equal distance of the Paradise and the Hell, and at the mezzanine is terrestrial walk.

God says himself whereas one needed beings able to take care on his creation. But, to receive them, it was initially to have an appearance. It created theborn one then, Mikaël, and it gave him ten names. Those only some are still of use, like that of Archange in particular. Mikaël then gave hundred names to God and thus it created God after that Ci had created it. God then created other archangels, among whom Samaël, preferred of god, the Archangel of the Light. At the beginning, the archangels supervised only the flora, which opened out on various planets, but little by little fauna developed. God as for him rested. Several hundred years of creation, that tires you his man! Then a species started to develop better than the others. They were large reptiles full with teeth and scales, the Dinosaures. But these creatures did not believe in a God. God had then the idea to send a prophet to them: Denver (sic), which was made crucifier (Re-sic). The large lizards were thus decimated until the last…

This disappearance made it possible a small species to develop, the Man. Samaël was impassioned by what he discovered: a free species, equipped with a great intelligence. Its only defect, it was that it was particularly fragile. It had an idea then: to allow the archangels, who were strong but which did not have any freedom, to reproduce with the human ones to thus make them resistant and perfect. It submitted this idea to God at the time of a great council gathering all theborn ones. But its proposal was violently disallowed by God, which strongly shook it; it was indeed the first time that God refused something to him.

It thus decided to pass in addition to and to go down on Earth without the downstream from God with some from his accomplices who had adhered to his ideas. And, to reproduce, they reproduced! Their unions were born the succubes and incubate them. But, like of course, God was not going to let pass that. He joins together a second extraordinary council and asked Samaël to excuse himself. This one refused and a war burst in the eternal City. On a Samaël side and its following, other armies of God. The exit of the battle is known: Samaël lost and fell through the steps, accompanied by those which had supported it.

And they fell a long time. They ended up falling on last walk, exhausted and deeply chamboulés of the distance which separated them from the divine power which had created them. They decided all to change name to mark this passage to a new existence. Samaël was then made call Satan. It built the city of Dis in seven years where God had spent seven days to create the universe. It carried out whereas, even if God had driven out it, him and his troops, it had left him a gift all the same: capacity to create.

A war started then, which lasts still today, where the forces of the Good and those of the Evil clash to conquer the heart of the Man.

At the beginning the war was frontal: swords against swords, etc But Jesus had the idea to make a " of it; Large Jeu" more discrete and more subtle. God found the idea good and Satan had to yield there. Consequently the angels and demons had to be incarnated and act carefully, letting the human ones choose their way nicely all while switching them.

Your and humor

INS/MV, according to its authors, is made to be played with Humor and a certain second degree. This humor makes it possible the play not to be always Politiquement correct. Part of this humor comes from what the play exploits an event of the real history to do a base of scenario. That it would occur for example if an angel particularly cretin and fanatic reacted violently to the victory of a " transsexual déicide" with the Eurovision contest of the song? And if a Moslem prince-demon were specialized in the diversion of planes? The large ones of this world they are handled? By one or more camps?

In spite of the topic of the play, the authors try to avoid falling into the Manichéisme. Thus certain angels scorn the human ones, while certain demons can stick to them. Some Skinhead S fanaticized, enlisted like deterrent force by the forces of the Good, are not inevitably of good company. The various archangels and prince-demons not being agreement on the best way of doing the Well or the Badly, the internal struggles (violences or chicaneries) are frequent in the two camps.

System of play

As of the first edition, play INS/MV employed a single system of play. To solve an action, one employs the multiple single table . This two-dimensional board gives the number to be obtained to make a success of the action, according to the competence of the character and the difficulty of the action. Then one launches a die 666 , composed of three dice with six faces, which form with them three a number with three digits. The figures of the hundreds and tens establish the failure or the success of the action, while the figure of the units gives the broadth of the success or the failure.

There exist two special results: a 111 represents an intervention of God, and is thus a success criticizes for an angel and a failure criticizes for a demon. Conversely, a 666 , the number of the animal, represents an intervention of Satan, and is thus a success criticizes for a demon and a failure criticizes for an angel. These criticisms often have a humorous effect.

The fourth edition transformed the multiple single table into multiple circuit single line (called " beautiful LN") but its employment is very similar.
