Segorbe

Segorbe ( Valencian Sogorb in ) is a Spanish, capital commune of the Viola Palancia-Alt Palància, in the Province of Castellón (autonomous Communauté of Valence). Segorbe has 8.456 inhabitants in 2005.

  • Torré LED botxí (Turn of the torturer) It is called thus because it was used as residence to the torturer (who says botxí in Valencian). It is cylindrical body, a height of 17,30 Mr. Its lower part, until the height of 8,30 Mr. is massive and the higher body in its part interns with the form of a divided hexagon and cover by a vault in intersecting ribs. Known construction being has made around XIVe century.

  • Torre of the cárcel (Tower of the prison) This tower of XIVe century is located beside one of the old doors of the city. Outside, it is of cylindrical plan with a lower body of largeer diameter and probably more primitive than the higher body, where the cells are which were used as prisons. The second body has a diameter of 8,70 Mr. It is divided internally into two stages of octagonal section, with vaults of intersecting ribs of Gothic style, loopholes and a communication with the terrace by a spiral staircase inserted in the wall. The total height is of 21,30 Mr.
