Sega To threaten
The Sega Menacer is a optical Pistolet designed by SEGA for its Megadrive. Contrary to the gun available on Master System, To threaten it was presented in the shape of a gun which could be transformed into rifle using a mobile stick. To threaten functioned thanks to an infra-red cell connected to the Megadrive via a port lever. This cell was placed on the screen of play.
This system had an advantage, that not to require a wire connecting the gun to the console. But this also includes that To threaten it was to be supplied with piles, and especially that for the beginning of each part with this accessory, it had to be gauged because if the infra-red receiver moved, or if one moved slightly, the aiming became bad.
To threaten was delivered with a cartridge of 6 basic plays of shooting (to crush cockroaches attacking a pizza pie, to prevent an extraterrestrial invasion,…).
The quite relative success of this accessory is due to two rather awkward facts: rifle is badly thought ergonomiquement, and gets pains with the shoulder at the end of a few minutes of play, and especially there was no play or almost to exploit it, if it is not Terminator 2.
