Sees in several lengths
A way in several lengths is a Climbing way with one or more stops with a Relais. Each section of way located between two consecutive relays (the departure of the way, when this one is located on the ground, is here comparable with a relay) is called a length. The climbing which leaves at the head, place the material in the way for the protection and equips the relay for the Assurage with the second of cord.
The reasons for the stops with the relays are determined by choice, convention or need. For example:
- the cord is too short to carry out the way in only length (required).
- the climbing one at the head is with court of material of protection (required).
- Of the climbing precedents placed points of protection intended for a relay (convention).
- the climbing one at the head chooses to rest and exchange the roles with the second of cord before the following length (choice).
The principal goal of these stops is to make it possible to the second of cord to reach the point where is the first of cord while collecting the material of protection placed on the way lasting the rise of climbing at the head. At the relay, the second of cord can preserve the material and become first of cord for the following length, or pass the material to his fellow-member so that this one continues the new length at the head.
