Seefeld

Seefeld is a Winter sports resort which is to approximately 20 km in the west of Innsbruck and to approximately 10 km of the German border.

Concurrently to Seefeld are the solid masses of Mieminger, Wetterstein and the Karwendel.

Seefeld, with its many hotels, is one of the tourist resorts among largest and most popular of the the Tyrol.

The area, with Scharnitz, Leutasch, Mösern and Reith, offers 250 km of generally practicable tracks on the whole until the beginning of April.

Transport

Seefeld is reachable by the train since Munich and Innsbruck.

Olympic Games and Championship of the World

In Seefeld were held the Scandinavian competitions of ski during the Winter Olympics in Innsbruck (1964 and 1976), as well as the Championnats of the world of cross-country skiing 1985

History

One mentions Seefeld for the first time in 1022.

Formerly, the plates (approximately 1200m) around Seefeld formed a marshy area and very little populated.
