Section 31

In the universe of fiction of Star Trek, the Section 31 is the name of a branch of Starfleet dating from the charter of origin of the Fédération, and completely unknown factor of the general public.

It can be compared with secret services like the Tal Shiar Romulien or the Ordre Obsidien Cardassien, with the difference that its existence confirmed forever by the authorities.

Its goal is to protect the federation at all costs against its enemies, without its fellow-citizens being aware of it.
