The Secrétaire with the Defense of the United States is member of the Cabinet of the president of the United States, he directs the Department of Defense of the United States ( United States Department off Defense , shortened DoD ), person in charge of the military businesses and the Armed forces of the United States. The role of the Secretary to Defense is to be the principal adviser as regards defense near the president of the United States, to be responsible for the definition for the defense policy for the country like for the policies and subjects touching the Department of Defense directly, and to make sure of the execution of the policies in question.

The Secretary with Defense, like his counterparts of the other State Departments, is member of the executive Cabinet of the government of the United States.
