  • August 5th:

    • Jan Piekałkiewicz becomes the new Delegate in Poland of the Polish Gouvernement in exile.
    • Departure of the 15th convoy of deportation of the Jews of France, Beaune-the-Rolande towards Auschwitz: 1014 deportees, 5 survivors with the Release.
  • August 7th:

    • Departure of the 16th convoy of deportation of the Jews of France, Pithiviers towards Auschwitz: 1069 deportees, 6 survivors in 1945
    • the operation “Turn of guet” ( Watchtower ) initiates the Bataille of Guadalcanal whereas the American forces invade Gavutu, Guadalcanal, Tulagi and Tanambogo in the the Solomon Islands.
  • August 9th:

    • Beginning of the second evacuation of the Polish troops of the USSR: 69.247 people are evacuated towards the Iran.
  • August 19th:

    • Operation Jubilee, raid of the British and Canadian forces on Dieppe in France, is completed by a failure and results in the death of 4  963 Canadian soldiers.
    • Departure of the 21st convoy of deportation of the Jews of France, the Camp of Drancy towards Auschwitz: 1000 deportees, 5 survivors in 1945.
  • In August, dismantling by the Germans of the network the red Orchestra .
