• Departure of the 14th convoy of deportation of the Jews of France, Pithiviers towards Auschwitz: 1034 deportees, 4 survivors with the Release.

• August 5th:

• Jan Piekałkiewicz becomes the new Delegate in Poland of the Polish Gouvernement in exile.
• Departure of the 15th convoy of deportation of the Jews of France, Beaune-the-Rolande towards Auschwitz: 1014 deportees, 5 survivors with the Release.

• August 7th:

• Departure of the 16th convoy of deportation of the Jews of France, Pithiviers towards Auschwitz: 1069 deportees, 6 survivors in 1945
• the operation “Turn of guet” ( Watchtower ) initiates the Bataille of Guadalcanal whereas the American forces invade Gavutu, Guadalcanal, Tulagi and Tanambogo in the the Solomon Islands.

• August 9th:

• Beginning of the second evacuation of the Polish troops of the USSR: 69.247 people are evacuated towards the Iran.

• August 10th:

• Departure of the 17th convoy of deportation of the Jews of France, the Camp of Drancy towards Auschwitz: 1006 deportees, 1 survivor in 1945.

• August 12th:

• Departure of the 18th convoy of deportation of the Jews of France, the Camp of Drancy towards Auschwitz: 1007 deportees, 10 survivors in 1945.

• August 13rd:

• the general Bernard Montgomery is named ordering 8th British Army in North Africa.

• August 14th:

• Departure of the 19th convoy of deportation of the Jews of France, the Camp of Drancy towards Auschwitz: 991 deportees, 1 survivor in 1945.

• August 16th:

• Liquidation of the Ghetto of Radom (30  000 victims).

• August 17th:

• Departure of the 20th convoy of deportation of the Jews of France, the Camp of Drancy towards Auschwitz: 1000 deportees, 3 survivors in 1945.

• August 19th:

• Operation Jubilee, raid of the British and Canadian forces on Dieppe in France, is completed by a failure and results in the death of 4  963 Canadian soldiers.
• Departure of the 21st convoy of deportation of the Jews of France, the Camp of Drancy towards Auschwitz: 1000 deportees, 5 survivors in 1945.

• August 20th:

• the Luxembourg is formally annexed to the German Reich.

• August 31st:

• Departure of the 26th convoy of deportation of the Jews of France, the Camp of Drancy towards Auschwitz: 1000 deportees, 17 survivors in 1945.
