Second chance

Second chance ( Ounce and Again ) is a American Televised series in 63 42 minutes episodes, created by Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick, and diffused September 21st 1999 with the April 15th 2002 on the network ABC. In France, the series was diffused March 7th 2000 with the July 12th 2002 on Téva, and in 2005 on M6.

Synopsis

At the commencement of the series, Lily Manning is a mother of approximately 40 years living in Deerfield, in Illinois. Just separated from its womanizer of Jake husband, Lily made of sound to better raise his/her two daughters, Grace, anxious teenager 14 year old, and Zoe, innocent little girl 9 year old. Lily is a woman who, according to her own words, “always sought safety”. However, for the first time of its existence, she does not see clearly which direction she must take whereas the life which she always imagined for her and its family is crumbling. Although strongly supported by his/her younger sister Judy, with whom she works part-time in a bookstore, Lily continuous to feel anxious compared to its future. But it makes, one day, the unhoped-for knowledge of a man, Rick Sammler in the office of the headmaster of Grace, with the college of Upton Sinclair.

Rick is itself single father and copresident of a cabinet of architecture, Sammler/Cassili Asssociés , located at Chicago. He has been divorced Karen for three years and has two children, Eli, teenager 16 year old more interested by the sport than by the studies, and sensitive Jessie, which regrets the time when his/her parents were not separate.

Lily and Rick feel an immediate attraction and quickly start to leave together. However, the blossoming of their relation is cause of problems in each one of their families. On a side, Jake, which maintains close links with the parents of Lily, Phil and Barbara, is about to reorganize and reopen the restaurant, At Phil , which the latter left him before being withdrawn in Florida. However, this proximity prevents Phil and Barbara to accept the connection of Lily and Rick, and this although Jake the place in a difficult situation because of the financial problems which it encounters with the restaurant. In addition, Grace is shown strongly opposite with the relation of Lily and of Rick because it continues to hope for the reconciliation of her parents. Judy, as for it, is not interested much in Rick, but supports his/her sister since nobody other does it… Other side, Karen, lawyer with the cabinet Harris, Riegert and Sammler , worry about the consequences which the relation of its ex-husband could have on his children and more particularly on Jessie, which is timid and fragile. But the young woman is also jealous of the new relation of Rick.

Comments

The series explores the surprises and the difficulties born of one second chance in love, as well as the dynamic family ones of the divorce and the remarriage, the relations parents/children, homosexuality, the research of the love, the personal achievement and discovered self.

It was created by Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick, which gave rise to Génération advertizing and Angela, 15 years . Both seem supporting characters in the series. Herskovitz plays Dr. Frankl, surgeon who informs Brooks/Manning of dead of Phil. Zwick appears as for him in six episodes under the features of Dr. Daniel Rosenfeld, the pédopsychiatre which advises Jessie when it is reached disorders of the food.

Miles Drentell, the customer who destroys the partnership of Rick and David in the middle of the second season, has almost had the same effect on Michael Steadman and Elliott Weston in Génération advertizing .

Producing the Winnie Holzman plays Shelly, the social worker of Aaron, in three episodes.
