Sebastien Grosjean is a player of Tennis French, born on May 29th, 1978 with Marseilles.
Biography
In its childhood, he lives with Ancelle (Hautes-Alpes), where he begins the Ski, then with Pra Loup (Alp-of-High-Provence), where he discovered tennis. Sebastien chooses definitively tennis in 1987, it is then involved by Sophie Banguard and Herve Bonguyon, then by Herve Pagano with Gap (Hautes-Alpes).In 1990, it integrates the tennis study of Boulouris (VAr), then directed by Patrice Beust, from where it attends the finale of the Coupe Davis 1991 which marked it much. In September 1992, it integrates INSEP, but it adapts rather badly to short Parisian covers and suffers from a problem of growth of the knee (disease of Osgood-Schlatter). The adventure with the INSEP finishes brutally in May 1994: whereas Sebastien is n°2 of his category, it then is judged too much small for tennis. Sebastien turns over then to Marseilles where it is involved with Bernard Fritz who makes him make an important modification in right blow.
And the fruits of this collaboration is not long in coming since Sebastien becomes champion of France junior in 1995. In 1996, he becomes champion of Europe and the world junior and starts to gain his first points with world classification: it then begins its career from professional player.
1998 is one year rich for Sebastien. On the personal level initially, since it Marie with Marie-Pierre Villani, with whom he has a girl, Lola. On the sporting level also since it makes its beginnings in team of France of Coupe Davis with Tel Aviv as substitute.
Thereafter all will go very quickly, in 1999 it is fixed like objective to finish in the first 50 world, and it is already the case after a final in the Masters Series of Key Biscayne in April. It also makes a brilliant Coupe Davis campaign with the team of France, beaten only finally by the Australia.
In it its first tournament with Nottingham, it gains then misses 2000 still a performance in Grand Slam, which it carries out at the beginning of the year 2001 with a half finale with the Open of Australia. This season will be also marked by another half finale with Roland-Garros (with the passage it beats Andre Agassi in quarters), and a first victory in Masters Series with Paris (against Yevgeny Kafelnikov). Lastly, he concludes this exceptional year in beauty by a finale with the Masters (he beats Patrick Rafter and Andre Agassi before losing against Hewitt) and a victory in Coupe Davis (even if he loses his 2 simple against Patrick Rafter and Hewitt). He finishes the year 6th world, and becomes logically French n°1
In 2002, it has a second child, Tom. Its third child and second girl, Sam, are born in 2006. He currently lives in Florida with Boca Raton with his wife and his 3 children. On the tennis plan the year is less rich in spite of a quarterfinal to Roland-Garros and a final of Coupe Davis lost in Bercy against the Russia. On this occasion it dominates Ievgueni Kafelnikov but can nothing make against Marat Safin.
It finds world signal 10 in 2003 thanks in particular to a quarter to the Open of Australia and a half with Wimbledon.
It republishes these two performances in 2004 but, less regular in the other tournaments and often handicapped by wounds, it starts to fall in the hierarchy. Its principal following performances in Large Slam are two quarterfinals, with Wimbledon in 2005 and with the Open of Australia in 2006. In 2007, in spite of one rather pale season, it manages to gain a new title over the circuit, its first since 2002, with Lyon vis-a-vis French Marc Gicquel (7-6 6-4). It carries out even its first doubled by also gaining the tournament in double at the sides of OJ-Wilfried Tsonga (which it had beaten in semi-final of simple).
