Sebastien-Andre Tarbé of Fine sands , born with Direction the September 19th 1762 and died in Paris the May 17th 1838, is a lawyer, printer and publisher and French administrator, author of a Manuel practices and elementary weights and measures which was constantly republished during nearly fifty years and which contributed much to popularize the Metric system.
Wire of the printer and publisher Pierre Hardouin Tarbé, puîné brother of Louis Hardouin Tarbé and Charles Tarbé, he becomes lawyer with the Parlement of Paris and writer, following his father, of the historical Almanach of the city, diocese and bailliage of Direction . In 1790, it is established printer with Melun and launches the Journal of the department of Seine-et-Marne . In 1792, it is elected mayor of Melun. Thrown in prison to have supported the escape from a man held by the revolutionary authorities, it does not owe its safety that with the Chute of Robespierre. Starting from 1804, it occupies various stations in the administration of finances. His wife, Michelle-Catherine-Joséphine Guespereau, made known themselves by her moral novels.
