Seattle Computer Products (SCP) was a company which manufactured computers with Seattle and which was one of the first to manufacture computing systems based on the Processeur Intel 8086.

SCP was partly made up of high-school pupils coming from the close communities which welded and assembled the computers. Some of them worked later for Microsoft.

It is at the twenty-two years age, in 1978, that Tim Paterson was engaged by Rod Brock which had at the time the company SCP . In 1980, Tim Paterson created, in four months hardly, the Operating system QDOS, known later under the name of 86-DOS.

In December 1980, the Microsoft company sought an operating system for the future PC of IBM. It thus made it possible to a third company to manufacture this system, for 50.000 $.

Company SCP was thus retained and before even the launching of QDOS, Microsoft repurchased the rights for 50.000 $; SCP thus showed it later fraud, because Microsoft would have forgotten to specify that IBM was the customer of the order (although it seems that it was a right of Microsoft related to the trade agreement). Microsoft thus arranged a compromise with company SCP, in 1986, by paying 1 million additional dollars.

Thereafter company SCP disappeared, because the market of the processors Intel 8086 was dominated by the computers PC compatibles.
