Season NFL 1920
The season NFL 1920 is the inaugural season of the National Football League. In fact, the name of NFL is adopted only in 1922, and it is under the name of “American Professional Football Association” that the league operates at its beginnings.
The calendar of this first season was a little impromptu. It is true that four formations (Buffalo All-Americans, Chicago Tigers, Columbus Panhandles, and Detroit Heralds) joined the rows of the championship in the course of season… Also, the classification was indicative and has, today still, nothing official. It was necessary to await the April 30th 1921 and a meeting of the league with Akron to see symbolically crowning Akron Pros champions in 1920.
The first match of the season is held the September 26th. In front of 800 spectators, Rock Island Independents beats 48-0 St Paul' S Ideal, non-member of the league… The October 3rd, two matches putting at the catches two formations of the league take place: Dayton Triangles beats Columbus Panhandles 14-0 while Rock Island Independents is essential 45-0 on Muncie Flyers, which gives up after this match…
