  • NBA decides to reorganize the league before the beginning of the season: 6 teams are thanked (the Anderson Packers, the Chicago Stags, the Denver Nuggets, the St Louis Bombers, the Sheboygan Redskins and the Waterloo Hawks). The number of teams falls to 10 when, in the middle of the season, the Washington Capitols disappear.
  • first NBA AlStar Range, an annual match of exhibition gathering the best players, is organized with Boston, Massachusetts. ED Macauley, of the Boston Celtics, takes along Is with victory 111-94 vis-a-vis the West, and becomes the first MVP AlStar Range .
