Season LNH 1985-1986

The season LNH 1985 - 86 was the 69e regular season of the National league of hockey. Twenty-and-a teams played each one 80 matches.

This season, the Trophée President was set up in order to reward the team having accumulated the most points with general classification. The Oilers d' Edmonton are the gaining first of the price.

Regular season

The Oilers d' Edmonton took again their first place with the Flyers of continuous Philadelphia and Wayne Gretzky to dominate the league with once again the trophies Hart and Art Ross. However, it does not register " que" 52 goals but carries out the performance single to make 163 decisive master keys and reached for the last time of its career more than 200 points over the season. Mario Lemieux, will be the only player to approach the 200 points (without reaching them) with 199 points four seasons later.

eliminatory Series of the Cut Stanley

The Canadian of Montreal decided to make play with a their aim for the eliminatory series a young guard beginning from the name of Patrick Roy. The last time that the Canadians had made play an initial guard (Ken Dryden), they had gained the Coupe Stanley. Once again that proved to be paying since Patrick Roy gained the Trophée Idiot Smythe better player of the series (15 victories and 1,92 of average of goals boxed by matches).

The outcome of the last match of the series came by a goal marked by James Stephen Smith of Oilers against his camps. Finales of the Stanley Cut

This final of the Coupe Stanley was the first for the Canadian of Montreal since the season 1978-79 (final gained against the Rangers of New York). Also, it was the first time since the season 1966-67 which two Canadian teams clashed, when the Maple Leafs of Toronto have demolishes the Canadian by four parts with 2. Brian Skrudland marked the victorious goal at the time of the second part at nine (9) seconds of the beginning of the period of prologation, thus establishing the record for the fastest goal in prolongation at the time of eliminatory part of the series of the LNH.

The Canadians of Montreal gain the series and their guard recruit, Patrick Roy, receives the Trophée Idiot Smythe.
