Season LNH 1950-1951
The season LNH 1950 - 51 was the 34e regular season of the National league of hockey. Six teams played each one 70 matches.
Regular season
The largest exchange of the history of the league took place this season with 9 players implied in an exchange between Chicago and Detroit.
Joe Primeau was named trainer of the Maple Leafs of Toronto with by assisting Hap Day. Toronto flew over the beginning of the competition with 11 matches after without defeat. Al Rollins carried out very a good season in the goals with an average of boxed goals of 1,75 into 40 matchs.
Leafs thought that Roolins should divide the Trophée Vézina with Turk Broda but finally Rollins was the only winner.
The results of the Rangers of New York not being with go, the frankness urged a hypnotist in order to proceed to meetings of relieving. Unfortunately, according to the doctor, Chuck Rayner, the goalkeeper of Rangers was stressed too much and that was not used for nothing.

The following day, the Canadians take the train to go to play New York and Richard then crosses in the hall of a hotel the two referees of the day before. Richard makes “only” catch McLean by the tie before Primeau does not intervene and the three protagonists are then separate.
In reaction, the president of the league, Clarence Campbell condemned Richard has to pay a fine of 500 Dollars for the wrong made to hockey.
The Red Wings de Détroit lived one second exceptional part of championship and exceeded the bar of the 100 points. It was the first team to carry out this performance. Terry Sawchuk of which was the first season gained the Trophée Calder and became the first goalkeeper to gain 44 matches in the season.

With all the matches ending in prolongations, the final of 1951 is single in the history of the league. Bill Barilko registered the goal of the sacring for Toronto at the end of 2 min 53 in prolongation of the 5th match.Canadian of Montreal vs. Maple Leafs of Toronto
