Season LNH 1939-1940

The season LNH 1939-40 was the 23e regular season the National league of hockey. Among the 7 teams engaged in the race for the Cut Stanley, the Bruins of Boston made best the impression by finishing first of division.

Regular season

The season very badly began for the fans from the Canadian from Montreal which lost their trainer Babe Siebert who drowned during the summer with his daughter. Pit Lepine is called to replace it but the Canadians will finish last division all the same. Maths of stars will be played memory of Siebert.

The Americans of New York empêtrés in the money worries are constrained to sell to them left winger high-speed motorboat Sweeney Schriner with the Maple Leafs of Toronto in the exchange of 3 other players. Their sixth place with the classification enables them nevertheless to play the eliminatory Séries.

The final between Rangers and Maple Leafs was enthralling to follow, 3 matches last outward journey in prolongation. The first two matches being played New York, the series should have been finished there but because of a circus, the last matches took place with Toronto. It was the 3rd victory of Rangers of 14 seasons in the National league of hockey. It will be necessary to wait 54 seasons more before they gain another of them.
