Season LNH 1931-1932

The season LNH 1931-32 was the fifteenth season of the National league of hockey. The 8 committed teams played each one 48 matches of regular season, following what the Maple Leafs of Toronto crushed the Rangers of New York in 3 matches finally of Coupe Stanley.

Regular season

Because of the finacnières difficulties, the Quakers of Philadelphia dissolved and the Senators d' Ottawa suspended the frankness, increasing the number of teams engaged in the league from 10 to 8.

Old the American Hockey Association (become the " American league of hockey" the previous year) was attacked by the president of the LNH, Frank Calder, and was shown to be a league out the law. Indeed, Calder quoted like reasons, the fact that the AHA had installed a frankness in Chicago (which was then already the town of a frankness from the LNH) as well as a frankness with Buffalo where a team of LNH had already set up an affiliation with a team of minor league. In solution of the problem, the team of Buffalo is dissolved and Calder succeeded, following negotiations, to make that the team of Chicago of AHA (Shamrocks of Chicago) of James Norris amalgamates with the Falcons de Detroit which came very close to bankruptcy then.

It was also the year of the construction of the skating rink of the frankness from Toronto: the Maple Leaf Gardens and this mainly thanks to the combined efforts of Idiot Smythe and Frank Selke. The festival of inauguration all the same was partly wasted by a defeat 3 to 1 against the Blackhawks of Chicago (the first goal in the skating rink was marked by the player of Chicago: Mush March).

eliminatory Series

The Canadian of Montreal had all the charts in hand to carry out the triplet and to gain once again the Coupe Stanley in particular thanks to very the good season of Howie Morenz which receives for the second consecutive year the Trophée Binder. Unfortunately for the Canadians, several of their player are wounded (of which Morenz) and they cannot nothing make against the speed of the Rangers New York which reach the finale then.

During this time the series between Blackhawks and Toronto turns to the advantage of Toronto which then draw aside from their road the Maroons of Montreal.

Finale of Cut Stanley

The final of the Cut was to be played best of the 5 macths between Rangers ladykiller of the favorites and Maple Leafs which had to eliminate two club to arrive finally. Despite everything it is in 3 matches that Maple Leafs gain the Coupe Stanley at the end of the 2 played matches with Boston (the circus having taken the place of hockey in the room of Rangers) and of a last match played in the new skating rink of Maple Leafs in Toronto.

The nickname given to this final was the series of tennis (" the tennis series" ), since Leafs registered with each match 6 goals.
