Season LAH 2003-2004

The season 2003 - 04 of the American Ligue of hockey was the 68e season of the league. The Trophée Willie Marshall was introduced to reward best the striker for the season.

Format of the season and the LAH

The form of the LAH knows a change with a passage of two divisions of six franknesses with four divisions divided into two conferences. The conference of the East is then made up of divisions Is and Atlantic while the conference of the West gathers northern division and that of the west.

Twenty-eight teams disputed 80 matches each one in the regular season at the conclusion which, the first three teams of each division are automatically qualified for the eliminatory Séries to gain the Coupe Calder. The teams finishing with the fourth and fifth place play a turn of stopping (with best of the two matches) to join the twelve other teams. The Admirals of Milwaukee were crowned champions, beating the Penguins de Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Changes of frankness

  • the Flames of Saint-John champions in 2001 decide to put a pause at their activity. This pause should have been only temporary but finally, they will not return to the play.
  • the Citadels of Quebec and the Bulldogs of Hamilton which had amalgamated the former season controlled by the Canadian of Montreal and the Oilers d' Edmonton, become again two different franknesses. Bulldogs remain under control of the Canadians while the Citadels are moved with Toronto and become the Roadrunners of Toronto.

Match of Stars

The 17th match of Stars of the LAH took place the 8 and February 9th 2004 in the skating rink of the Van Andel Arena with Grand Rapids in the state of the Michigan.

The team of Canada beat the team associated with American and the rest of the world on the score of 9 goals with 5. During the contest of skills, Canadian was beaten 18 to 9.
