Season LAH 1995-1996

The season 1995 - 96 of the American Ligue of hockey was the 60e season of the league. Eighteen teams played each one 80 matches of season régulière.
Les Americans of Rochester gained their sixth Coupe Calder.

Context of the season

With the expansion with eighteen franknesses, the LAH reorganizes in two conferences including/understanding each of two divisions. The Northern conference is made up of divisions North and the Atlantic, the Southern conference of Southern division and the very new Centrale division.

It is created two new trophies in order to reward, in addition to the two already existing trophies, the winners of all divisions in regular season:

The LAH also reintroduces the rule of the not for a defeat in Prolongation which had been abandoned at the conclusion of the season 1987-88.

Match of Stars

The 9th match of Stars of the LAH takes place the January 16th 1996 with the Hersheypark Arena with Hershey. The team of the United States beats that of Canada on the score of 6 goals to 5. In preamble with the match, a contest of skill is organized the day before match. The team of the United States also gains this contest over the mark of 14 points to 12.

eliminatory Series

  • the eight best teams of each conference are qualified.
  • the series are organized in the form of tree by conference and division. An exception however: the five franknesses from Central division being qualified, the classified team fifth is transferred with Southern division.
  • the quarter-of-finale of conference dispute with best of the five matches. The following rounds are played best of the seven matches.
