Season 2000 of the WTA
The season 2000 of WTA is dominated by three players: Martina Hingis, Lindsay Davenport and Venus Williams. None however manages to be affirmed like the true owner of the circuit.
In January, after three consecutive victories (1997 - 1999), Martina Hingis is beaten by Lindsay Davenport finally Open of Australia.
On Roland-Garros, Mary Pierce is essential vis-a-vis the vétérante Conchita Martínez.
At the top of her form, Venus Williams carries out a summer of exception: after having gained Wimbledon and the US Open (each time against Davenport finally), it takes down two gold medals with the Olympic Games of Sydney, into simple and double (with his/her younger sister Serena).
Without gaining any Major, but for the benefit of the greatest regularity, Hingis the world season number one concludes, as in 1999.
Serena Williams and Monica Saddles, finally, raises each one three trophies, just as Henrieta Nagyová in tests with dimensions.
In double, eight different players share the four Large Slams.
