Tree Hill is a small town of North Carolina where the team of tennis shoe of the college plays, the " Ravens de Tree Hill " , and where resident two half-brothers: Lucas and Nathan Scott. They grew in the same city but do not speak, or little, because of the influence of their father, daN Scott.

Later in the season, Brooke fears to be pregnant, which places Lucas in the same position as daN of the years before. But contrary to him, he promises in Brooke to be there for the baby. Brooke confesses whereas she invented this pregnancy to punish Lucas to have misled it with Peyton. The latter approaches Jake Jaglieski, which only raises his/her daughter, Jenny. But the return of Nicki, the mother of Jenny, with Tree Hill and its desire for obtaining the exclusive guard of his/her daughter oblige Jake to flee with Jenny.
Karen leaves for Italy for a few days and entrusts Lucas to Keith. But Lucas comes very close to death at the time of an car accident caused by alcohol that Keith introduced before taking the wheel. This incident destroys the potential lovesong between Karen and Keith. Debbie requires the divorce, which poses a dilemma with Nathan. It finishes by émanciper and moves in its own apartment. Karen and Debbie become friendly then associated with the " Karen' S café". Keith, as for him, is obliged to sell its garage to daN to pay the medical expenses of Lucas. He asks Karen in marriage but this one refuses, which decides Keith to move to go to settle in Charleston.
The matches of qualification arrive and, as Whitey is at the hospital for an operation of the eyes, it is daN which involves from now on the team of Ravens. Lucas and Nathan are linked against daN and end up missing the qualifications. The season of tennis shoe is finished. Lucas decides to leave to live in Charleston with Keith. Halley finally decides to sleep with Nathan. Keith and Debbie sleep together, which causes an heart attack with daN when he discover them together. Brooke and Peyton send Nicki to seek his/her daughter in Seattle, whereas it is in Savannah with Jake. They decide not to leave boys more sow the discord between them. Lucas leaves to say goodbye to Halley who teaches him that she married with Nathan. It is on this striking down news that Lucas and Keith leave Tree Hill.
