Sears, Roebuck and Company is an American group of distribution , founded by Richard Sears and Alvah Roebuck towards the beginning of the 19th century. The company distributes goods to Canada under the name Sears Canada and to the Mexico under the name Sears Mexico City. Since its beginnings, the company grows until becoming the largest retail business with the the United States about the middle of the 20th century, and its catalogs became famous. The competition and the demographic changes of the customers of the company constituted a challenge of size for the company after the Second world war whereas its bases rural and urban evaporated and that the markets in suburbs became increasingly popular. Possibly, the popularity of the catalog tumbled down. Sears amalgamated with Kmart towards the beginning of the year 2005, thus creating the Sears Holdings Corporation.
The Sears department store in the world, operated by Sears Canada and of a surface of 75.981 m ², is located at Toronto, in Toronto Eaton Center.
Sears, Roebuck and Company built celebrates it Sears Tower, which was supplemented in 1974. This building, located at Chicago, is the most building of the United States. The company, on the other hand, does not have it any more.
