Biography

Wire of old a AlBlacks, Brian Fitzpatrick of 1951 with 1954, it bathes very early in the culture alblacks.

Replacing at the beginning of Andy Dalton in the squad of the World cup of Rugby 1987, it seizes its chance perfectly and becomes the talonnor of Blacks which finally triumphs against the French with Auckland.

Remarkably mobile and skilful for a player at this station, it is also fears and respected for its qualities of combatant in the purest All-Blacks tradition.

Although grandissimes favorite with their own succession, Blacks fail against the Australiens of very inspired David Campese in semi-final of the world cup 1991.

This defeat is lived like a dishonor in New Zealand. Fitzpatrick becomes captain in 1992 then. Its first great challenge at this station arises with the round of the Lions in 1993. The series is gained 2 to 1 by the blacks. On the other hand, the same year, Blacks yield the Bledisloe Cup to the Australia by losing series 2 to 1.

Again favorite of the world cup 1995, Blacks, dominators until there and in particular in semi-final against the English, fail in front of the Springboks. This defeat is all the more hard to accept that the majority of the players are touched by a food poisoning right before the final and that the rumors of cheatings quickly circulated.

In 1996, Blacks find their honor by gaining for the first time of the history a series of round in South Africa by 3 victories with 1. Moreover, they gain the first Tri-nations, with 4 victories against Wallabies and Springboks. With his province of the Auckland Blues, Sean Fitzpatrick also gains the 2 first Super 12 in 1996 and 1997.
